Our VILLAS are positioned in the south-eastern end of Sicily, on a hill near the fascinating baroque city of Noto and the beautiful “Riserva Naturale di Vendicari” (Natural Reserve of Vendicari).
Noto is considered to be amongst the most beautiful baroque towns in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The natural reserve “Oasi faunistica di Vendicari” (Wildife Oasis of Vendicari) is characterised by a vast number of environments very different from each other: soft water lakes, rocky coasts, coastal dunes, magnificent white sand beaches, Mediterranean forests, woodlands and scrubs, and at least 240 species of birds, especially migratory. Among these, the Slender-billed Gull and the black-winged stilt are noteworthy.
In between 5 and 30 minutes one can reach: the artistic cities of Siracusa, Modica, Ibla-Ragusa, ancient Avola, the waterfalls and natural lakes of the Cassibile Canyon and various archeological sites of the paleolithic. And then: the picturesque fishing town of Marzamemi, the tuna-fishing bays, Avola (famous site of wine producing), uncountable beaches among which, beyond those of the Natural reserve of Vendicari (Eloro, Marianelli, Cittadella, etc.), are noteworthy: San Lorenzo, Fontane Bianche, the Caribbean-like ones of the Isola delle Correnti, where two seas meet (Ionian and Tyrrhenian), and Portopalo di Capo Passero, a big harbor for fishing boats (which means fresh fish is available everyday).
The VAL DI NOTO (Valley of Noto) has the peculiarity of having its flora made of up of evergreen plants (olives – citruses) for the vast majority, which mantain, even in summer, the pleasure of being amid green vegetation, a multitude of colors, and refreshing shadows. Absolutely mandatory is recommending the Sicilian cuisine, with typical dishes from the countryside and sea, the pastries (cannoli, cassate, and ice cream), wine (the famous Nero D’Avola), oil, almonds, oranges, lemons and cherry tomatoes of Pachino.
